Facilities for guests with a disability

We can provide a ground floor bedroom designed around the needs of guests with mobility impairment.  This is a fully accessible en-suite facility and additionally there is a toilet/shower facility for disabled people close to the classrooms and the main entrance.  There is level access with wide doors to the entire ground floor.  The games room, drying room and bedrooms on upper floors are not accessible for anyone unable to use stairs.  We have a portable induction loop and vibrating/strobe fire alarm for the benefit of guests with hearing impairments.  For guests with visual impairments we have adopted a contrasting colour décor to door architraves and we have a signing system that is tactile, bold and easily understood. We have a ramp for wheelchair access from the lounge to the  outside terrace.

Classroom / Meeting Rooms

This facility can be organised as 2 separate rooms seating 20-25 (classroom-style) or can be opened into one unit as required.  Provided with the room are the usual visual aids, (flip chart stands, 2 portable white boards, PC projector, overhead projectors and video/DVD playback equipment (projection screens are wall or ceiling mounted)), a library of local information and identification guides and some basic practical equipment.

Drink-making facilities are available and tea, coffee and squash can be provided. Allocation of each unit will depend on group numbers and will be for the sole use of that group.  (If the classroom facilities are already booked, or a less formal setting suits the needs of your group, we may offer you sole use of our sitting room.) .

Outdoor Activities

In association with Dallam Outdoors, Heversham we can offer a variety of outdoor activities. Dallam Outdoors offers a wide variety of activities for all age groups such as canoeing, caving, climbing, ghyll scrambling, mountain biking, sea kayaking all of which can be put together in a tailor-made package. The price will depend on the type of activities required. For further information Dallam Outdoors can be contacted direct www.dallamoutdoors.co.uk, 015395 65961, outdoors@dallum.eu or we can do this on your behalf.

Meals

At Arnside Independent Hostel & Study Centre we offer a full meals service.  Please discuss your needs with us. We have a reputation for the style and quality of our catering.  We create home-baked meals for all our guests.  Our ingredients are sourced locally where popssible.  As well as allowing us tight control over quality our home-cooking ethos also means that catering for those with allergies and other special diets is no great problem.  At the evening meal there is always at least one vegetarian choice for the main course and our soups are always entirely meat free. Please advise in advance any gluten-free or allergies.
